Genre: Contemporary romance.
Length: 332 pages.
A companion novel to Jake Undone. This is how a man should love a woman.Mitch and Skylar meet when they are children. Mitch is staying at his Gram’s across the street from Skylar’s place while his parents sort out their messy divorce. Divorced parents is something Skylar is familiar with. They bond over heartbreak and basketball. When they realise that their friendship is something deeper, the universe conspires to pull them apart in several heartbreaking twists.I loved this book so much. This couple goes through hell. The little speck of hope that the author offers in the opening scene will keep you going through all the turmoil.
We were introduced to Skylar in Jake Undone. She becomes fast friends with Nina when she’s going through cancer treatment and needs a little help to impress her friend Mitch. As soon as I met her I wanted to know her story. She’s smart and sassy, funny and loyal. She’s a great friend to Mitch, but she wants more and so does he.Speaking of loyal, Mitch sticks with Skylar through the barrage of challenges she has to face. He doesn’t care that her appearance has changed or that the future is uncertain. He’ll take whatever she’ll give for as long as she’ll give it. I adore this man. His love is unconditional. It’s BIG. Everybody wants to be loved like he loves Skylar.
Skylar's future is changed by a cruel twist of fate and she doesn't know what she has to offer Mitch anymore. She keeps pushing him away and then OMG, I'm not saying. It's excruciating! What doesn’t change is the incredibly deep love Mitch feels for Skylar. It is written so beautifully, you’ll fall in love with him, too.
6 flares. It’s that good.

Some fun and frivolity with plenty of heart, too.Hayden Oliver swears to his friend, Hudson that he’ll stop sleeping with the female tenants in their building. I think this book might have wrecked me in all the ways a good book should. The plot is incredibly thick and rich, I enjoyed every agonising turn.Sevin lives with his father and ultra-religious step mother. He’s the black sheep of the family. Enjoying his way through any willing female and shovelling manure for a living, biding his time until he can get away from the oppressive environment he lives in.His father’s friend, Lance, offers Sevin the opportunity to learn the ropes and eventually take over Lance’s meat business. There’s a catch, of course. A huge catch. He has to marry Elle, Lance’s daughter. She’s a nice girl. He thinks, ‘why not?’ Then he meets her sister and just like that, things get messy. How could this possibly work out?

What a month! I had my first book release—Yay! I carved my first pumpkin and went trick or treating for the first time. I hosted my first Halloween party. Our street was swarming with creatures this year. It was actually surprising, because Halloween hasn't really taken off here yet. Next year I'll have to have three times the amount of treats.Tomorrow the Melbourne Cup will be run—'The Race That Stops The Nation'—as it's known here in Oz. Whether you're into horse racing or not, doesn't matter. The race is more like one part racing, one part fashion show and one part excuse for an extended lunch/ afternoon off to party. Even if you don't bet, The Cup will lure you to have a punt.
I've had a pearler of a month in terms of reading. I love the lingering warmth, the endorphin high you get when you've read a book that shocks and thrills and satisfies in every way a book should. I've had several of those experiences this month. Reviews coming up include books from Penelope Ward, M. Leighton, Kendall Ryan and Lauren Blakely.
