Lauren Blakely - Sinful Longing - Book Review (ARC)

Publisher: Lauren Blakely Books, 2015.
Genre: Erotic romance/ romantic suspense.
Length: 300 pages.

Lauren Blakely delivers the perfect balance of intrigue, suspense and sizzle. The book almost went up in flames! Pull up your skater socks to prepare for this one.

Colin Sloane’s ‘what if girl’ is Elle Mariano. She’s smart, sexy, generous and caring, but she won’t give him anything more than a blissful moment of shared pleasure here and there. It’s not enough. Colin wants into her life, and he’s going to get to her heart through her body.

Elle is powerless to resist the gorgeous tattooed bad boy. She has her life sorted, and there’s no room for a relationship with a man who has a past. The kind of past she can’t deal with, again. Will she be able to conquer her fears? And will outside forces prove to be too detrimental to a relationship between the two?

Lauren Blakely – Sweet Sinful Nights – Book Review (ARC)

Publisher: Lauren Blakely Books, 2015.
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense.
Length: 350 pages.

Oh the intrigue. This series is going to be brilliant. Lauren Blakely introduces us to the Paige-Prince family. Three brothers and one sister with darkness in their past, forcing them to adopt the new name of Sloan. This first book is Shay Sloan’s story (A.K.A. Shannon Paige-Prince).

Ten years ago, Shannon was engaged to her dream man, Brent Nichols. They were both on the cusp of starting married life and bright, new careers when Brent made the most monumental mistake of his life, losing Shannon in the process.

Ten years later, she dances back into his life as gorgeous and vibrant as ever. He wants her back. He never wanted to lose her. Now he just has to convince her that he’s worth the second chance.

Lauren Blakely teases the reader relentlessly with the building sexual tension in this story, but in doing so she pieces this broken relationship back together making it a truly strong bond. These two are the best of friends and never should have parted. High emotions, desperation and loose tongues cause so much avoidable harm.

I found this couple to be so compelling. They are both high stakes players in the entertainment industry and the passion between them is undeniable, but they have a sweet connection that is rare. Shannon’s life has been repeatedly battered by tragedy, but she keeps on fighting. Brent is her sunshine. She is his inspiration, his everything. It’s hard for her to trust anyone, considering her past. When the secrets of that past muddy the waters and challenge Brent’s unscathed life, he has to prove that he has matured and can handle the burden with her.

There is never a dull moment between the intrigue and the building sexual tension ready to ignite at any opportune moment, I was absolutely enthralled. The perfect blend of romance, deep friendship and burning passion. Bring on Sinful Desire!

5.5 Flares.

Book Review - G.S. Bailey - A Man For Kate

Publisher:  G.S. Bailey.
Genre: Romantic Suspense.
Length: 234 pages.

Kate Harrington isn’t exactly happy. She dreams of a better job, a house with views of Sydney waterfront and someone who will love her despite her flaws.

When her unofficially-adopted, intellectually-impaired brother moves back to his home town of Goran Vale, she stays for a short while to help him settle in.

Bobby’s return triggers local policeman, Ben McEwan’s interest in a missing person cold case. Bobby was the last to be seen with missing girl Melanie Rose, but claims to be unable to remember anything. In Ben’s mind, Bobby doesn’t seem capable of carrying out a sinister plot. Ben takes an interest in getting to know Bobby and his attractive sister.

When Kate leaves to holiday on the Gold Coast, Bobby lands himself in trouble. She rushes back to support her brother and turns to Ben for comfort.

This story is intriguing, confronting and heart-wrenching. The love story does take a back seat to the mystery, and Ben and Kate stumble over their insecurities, but ultimately it’s the love story that becomes the refuge in the storm.

The stand out character for me, was Bobby. He is such a contrast. A big, burly man with a youthful ideology and although he struggles with others’ misconceptions, his big heart shines through. His struggle with his demons will pull on your heart strings.

4 Flares.

Book Review - K. Bromberg - Driven (Book #1 Driven Series)

Publisher: Self-published, 2013
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length:

This is the author’s debut and first in the Driven Trilogy. If you liked Fifty Shades of Grey, you will enjoy this book; although it skims over the less vanilla sexual encounters.
Rylee Thomas stumbles out of a closet and into Colton Donavan, the famous race car driver. The attraction is instant and flammable, but Rylee chooses to run rather than suffer a heartbreak that she fears will eclipse the devastation of her past.

Colton is up front about wanting only a physical relationship, but their connection is so powerful that he can’t keep her at arm’s length.

I enjoyed this book immensely. The author has paired up the characters perfectly. Rylee is a trained counsellor with a heart of gold; the only woman who could possibly break through the hardened walls Colton wraps himself in.

Their chemistry is palpable and will keep you turning the pages wanting more.
Thoroughly enjoyed! Go buy it.
5 Flares.
