Remembering Home has a new cover!

Hi there! I have some exciting news. Remembering Home has a new cover! It's so pretty I want to roll in the hay with it. Not literally, don't screw your face up at me.

You're probably aware that I'm writing the second book in the Coming Home series, Finding Home. It's due out early next year. I can't give you an exact date yet. You'll know as soon as I do. So, now that Remembering Home is the kick off to a series it needed a new cover to tie in with its counterparts.
The new cover is a better representation of the feel of the series. Sweet love and summer in the south. The perfect read to take on holiday, or escape the chill of winter.

Here it is!

Geneva Lee - The Sins That Bind Us - Book Review (ARC)

The Blurb—
I wasn’t given a choice. Not when I did my first line of cocaine. Not when I became a single mother. But I changed, and every decision I’ve made was to protect myself and my son from my weaknesses—and my past.

Until Jude came along and made me question everything, even my own secrets.

The sins I carry with me can never be discovered. Life handed me broken bits of people and left me to construct my own world, and it’s too fragile to take a chance on Jude Mercer.

We write our own stories.

We build our own prisons.

We weave our own lies.

We commit the sins that bind us.

What a powerful story. Geneva Lee takes the reader on a soul searching journey as she places a mirror in front of us with the tale of these two flawed individuals.

Faith first sees Jude when he walks into her support group. He looks like a typical bad boy. She vows to steer clear.

Life never works out how you planned.

I don’t want to rehash the plot. This one is best if you go in blind. I can tell you that it gripped me immediately, and raised plenty of questions along the way, not only about the characters, but about life choices in general.

The story is written in first person POV, but flashbacks, written in third person, fill in the back story. I found the shift a little off putting at first. But these scenes help to fill in the blanks. They may be confronting and shocking, but honestly, the drip feed of information is so skilfully done I enjoyed every minute of this book.

These two captured my heart and my sympathies. I’d love to read more by this author.

Violet Duke - Jackson's Trust - Book Review (ARC)

The Blurb—
New York Times bestselling author Violet Duke kicks off her sizzling-hot new Fourth Down series with a friends-to-lovers romance between a no-strings-attached sports analyst and the hottest damn tomboy he’s ever met.

It’s no secret that sports analyst Jackson Gray doesn’t do relationships. What is a secret, however, is the reason why. Jackson’s life is . . . complicated. And it doesn’t help that his current hands-off “friendship” is with the cute-as-hell new sideline reporter he’s assigned to train. Turns out, not only is the woman damn sweet, she also knows as much about football as he does. Like it or not though, Jackson has to remind himself that sex is the only thing he has to offer . . . until now.

Leila Hart’s fast-growing friendship with Jackson is something she’d never risk, no matter how unbelievably seductive the reward. Becoming an NFL sportscaster has always been the goal, and thanks to Jackson’s fierce support and mentoring, it all finally seems within reach. Problem is, a girl can only take so much of that sexy-as-sin voice whispering dirty, filthy football stats in her ear before she loses all self-control. A workplace romance with Jackson is a disaster waiting to happen, especially for someone with big dreams . . . and secrets of her own.

Jay McLean - Combative - Book Review (Review Copy)

Publisher: Jay McLean, 2015.
Genre: Contemporary romance, romantic suspense.
Length: 384 pages.

Jay McLean has been on my TBR list for too long. I’m so, so glad I was finally able to read this book. And, hooray, it’s a trilogy.

Kyler Parker finds himself in trouble with the law when he lets his anger get the better of him, and his fists do the talking. A returned soldier, he has trouble adjusting to the life he left behind. When he’s offered an opportunity for salvation, justice and revenge, he takes it. He doesn’t have much choice, but doesn’t think too much about what the consequences are for his future. Until he meets a girl called Madison Haynes who appears to have a bitter sweet relationship with the letterboxes in their building. She’s his new neighbour, and she might just be worth more than the revenge he seeks. She might be everything. But who is she?

Madison is so intriguing. She’s really kept under wraps and you can feel Ky’s frustration, but also the sense that they understand each other without needing to know much. Ky is that wonderful combination of protective, loyal and tortured. Talk about intriguing and compelling.

C.L. Parker - Getting Rough - Book Review (ARC)

Publisher: Piatkus, Jan 2016.
Genre: Contemporary romance.
Length: 304 pages.

Book two in the Monkey Business trio. In the first book, I enjoyed the chase and the heat between these two despite their denial of something bigger. In this book, I felt a little icky with the addition of home town boy, Casey. If you haven’t read book one (Getting Dirty), there are spoilers in this review.

Shaw Matthews chases Cassidy Whalen to the ends of the Earth to give her a piece of his mind. At least it feels that way when he arrives in Stonington, Maine. Things to do in Stonington include lobstering and... nope that’s it. Shaw is wondering why he’s gone to all this effort to set Cassidy straight, until he sees her and things slowly become clearer.

Paige Toon - The Sun in Her Eyes - Book Review (review copy)

Publisher: Simon & Schuster UK, 2015.
Genre: Women’s fiction, contemporary romance.
Length: 432 pages.

Well, talk about a spanner thrown in the works. This was my introduction to this author. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was set mostly in Australia. It’s definitely a page turner, but I was left a little unsatisfied.

Amber’s life isn’t going well. Her marriage is strained and she finds herself out of a job and on a plane back to her home town of Adelaide, Australia, to see her ailing father. She’s as worried about her father as she is excited about seeing her childhood friend, and the object of her unrequited love, Ethan.

Julie A. Richman - Slave To Love - Book Review (ARC)

Publisher: Julie A. Richman, 2016.
Genre: Contemporary romance.
Length: 248 pages.

This one threw me off straight away, but once I figured out the dynamics of this unconventional office and this bold character I regained my balance and got hooked. FYI, I wanted to smack myself for my initial reaction.

Sierra Stone is a sales director extraordinaire for a company that provides outsourced services to several companies, including new addition, SpaceCloud. She meets SpaceCloud’s CEO while wearing sky high heels, short skirt and with the girls on high beam. He seems unimpressed. Little does she know, she knocked him off his feet.

When Hale Lundström’s company needs a little extra expertise on a delicate operation, he borrows Sierra’s services. They get to know each other quite well, both in and out of the boardroom and the bedroom.

She’s bold, she’s brash, she’s unapologetic about her overenthusiastic chest region. Sierra took me back a bit, to start with. Her character needed a strong counterpart to stand up to her dominance and Hale is just the right man for her.

I really enjoyed the way the author took us into the corporate operations and to where Sierra shines as a person. This is something that she and Hale have in common, and it goes a long way to bringing them together as a couple. The extra twist from Hale’s past sets off the drama nicely.

This one kept me reading, and now I want to try more from this author.

4.5 flares.

Jay Crownover - Built (The Saints of Denver Series, Book 1) - Book Review (ARC)

Publisher: Harper Collins, 2016.
Genre: Contemporary romance
Length:  352 pages.

I had a little panic attack when Jay Crownover announced the end of the Marked Men Series. If you’ve read them, you’ll know that a few secondary characters were introduced to the world of the Marked Men. This couple captured my attention immediately; I’ve been eagerly anticipating for Crownover to put Sayer and Zeb under the spotlight. Capable, rough and ready, Zeb, and composed, ice queen, Sayer, secretly, and not so secretly lusting for each other... Yes, yes and yes. There are some spoilers if you haven’t read the Marked Men Series. I think it’s probably best if you read them all in order (Rule, Jet, Rome, Nash, Rowdy, Asa, Leveled and Built).

Zeb Fuller can transform an old, rundown building into a thing of beauty. He puts his heart and soul into fixing things that need his attention. When a surprise sends his life into a spin he finds that he needs the help of a lawyer to fix this particular problem. As luck would have it, he happens to know a very sexy, talented lawyer. He needs her for more than her services, but she’s not so sure she has anything else to offer him.

SEXY EXCERPT

Aiden’s face was a picture of desire, his lids heavy, beautiful lips parted. The muscles of his chest heaved with each breath. He stood still. One hand grasped the towel and the other hung limply at his side.
At that moment, she waivered. She didn’t come for this. If he left tomorrow without the chance of return, she’d always wonder what it would be like to be with this man. What they could have together. After an awful few weeks, she needed something life affirming. Something to make her feel alive and connected with someone she loved. Sitting here seeing Aiden, the man, and realizing her feelings had never faded, she just wanted to be reckless. To have just one night with him before everything changed. Before he leaves again. She promised herself she would be truthful with him in the morning, but for now, she needed him. Only him.
Her gaze raked up his body to his eyes. Angel unfurled her arms and stood.
“Don’t say a word.” Her voice quivered from lust and fear. Fear that he might not want her as she wanted him.
He didn’t speak, only stalked towards her, reaching to cup her face in his hands. His eyes searing as he lowered his lips to hers. She closed her eyes and reached her hands up to grasp his wrists. The feathery brush of his lips against hers sent divine tingles shooting through her body. It was always like this when they kissed. He set her heart alight, and branded her as his with every stroke of his touch.
His hands moved to the nape of her neck and travelled down her shoulders and arms. She grabbed onto his waist, knocking the towel loose. His kiss became bruising. He reached down grabbing her thighs, urging her to wrap them around him so he could carry her to the sofa. She was way ahead of him, jumping at the suggestion.
Their tongues were tasting, licking, remembering each other, while her hands learned the matured contours of his back and shoulders.
He knelt down on the mattress and dropped forward, bracing himself on one hand. The springs squeaked as Angel bounced, dropping her legs from his body. She looked down his exceptional body to see his erection jutting out proudly. He was magnificent. She wanted him now. Skin on skin.
Angel wrenched off her top and started fumbling with the button of her jeans. Aiden's hands covered hers “Let me,” he growled. She flopped back on the pillow and grabbed onto the edge of the mattress above her head, lifting her hips when he slid her jeans down.
J.M. Adele is the author of the contemporary romance novella, Remembering Home, and paranormal romance, Sensing You—coming soon. She lives in Queensland, Australia with her husband, three boisterous boys and two geriatric Labradors.

Working as a nurse in a former life allowed her to meet all sorts of wonderful people and gain many different perspectives on life. Her love of, and addiction to stories prompted characters of her own to take up residence in her daydreams. When they became more insistent, she finally took pencil to paper.
